Train your team to think ahead, operate safely at height, and manage their environment with confidence, before real-world risks come into play.
This immersive VR training takes operators through a complete job cycle, from pre-start inspections to elevated task execution. Designed for high-risk industries like construction, maintenance, and warehousing, the experience builds practical, hands-on competency in a safe, controlled setting.
Scissor lifts are common on worksites, but without proper training, they can be a fast track to serious incidents.
Participants enter a simulated environment where they must:
- Complete documentation and conduct pre-use inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Establish and manage exclusion zones to protect bystanders.
- Apply a harness and learn how to operate a scissor lift safely.
- Complete a cleaning task at height, using correct safety protocols.
- Work through a job from start to finish under exam-style conditions.
This high-impact, scenario-based training builds the muscle memory and safety mindset needed to operate scissor lifts with skill and caution—on any job, at any height.

Learning Outcomes

Understand Pre-Operational Procedures:
- Complete and sign off on required documentation (e.g. permits, SWMS).
- Identify and assess hazards in the environment.
- Set up an exclusion zone to protect nearby workers.
- Perform equipment inspections including PPE (harness, lanyard).
Learn Boom Lift Setup and Safety:
- Identify suitable ground conditions and when to use outriggers.
- Understand the purpose and correct setup of the E-Stop system.
- Confirm Safe Working Load (S.W.L.) and secure loose equipment.
Gain Hands-On Operating Experience:
- Operate the boom lift via a control panel including raising/lowering booms, jib, and rotating the turntable.
- Use a pressure washer to complete a simulated cleaning task.
- Practice situational awareness (monitoring surroundings and warning lights).
Reinforce Emergency and Shutdown Procedures:
- Safely lower the boom lift and return it to its resting state.
- Execute full shutdown process including E-Stops and key return.
- Dismantle exclusion zones and sign off completion paperwork.
Demonstrate Safe Behavior and Compliance:
- Use harness and lanyard properly with correct anchoring and adjustment.
- Avoid common hazards (e.g. dropped objects, overhead power lines).
- Follow site safety signage and PPE requirements.

CONTACT USWhat is Custom VR Builds?
It’s a service where Next World creates a fully tailored VR-training solution for your company — a custom course built to meet your industry-specific requirements rather than using a generic off-the-shelf VR module.
How does the custom-build process work?
The process typically follows these phases: you provide training documentation, subject-matter experts get involved, learning outcomes are identified, storyboard is created, virtual assets are modeled, testing and quality assurance, and finally deployment in your environment.
What type of training scenarios can be built?
You can build VR scenarios for hazard awareness, safe-practice with tools and equipment, practicing safety procedures step-by-step, and even testing learner’s knowledge in simulated hazardous situations — as if in real life but safe.
Is custom VR suitable for refresher training as well?
Yes — custom VR builds can be used for refresher/training-update courses to efficiently refresh skills and knowledge without re-arranging real equipment or putting people at risk.
What learning methodology does custom VR follow?
Next World suggests a blended approach: combining face-to-face, practical and immersive training methods, which helps improve retention, practical competence, and reduces incidents.
